Turn an idle Android tablet into a Hong Kong family board
Homent Display — or Chrome on Android 8+ — reuses a spare Android tablet as the same pickup, dinner, and helper board as the phones. No US$300 calendar frame required.
You do not need an iPad, and you do not need Skylight
The Display App — or a browser — can turn an existing Android tablet into a wall board. Native apps and Chrome on Android 8+ are supported. The board is the same Hong Kong household surface as the Family App: who is on pickup, notices, dinner, a helper’s to-dos. Elders who will not look at the screen still get A4 print.
Homent does not sell you the tablet. Use one you already have.
If you were comparing a dedicated US wall calendar, read idle iPad vs Skylight. The Android path is the same idea: hardware you own, software that matches the phones. Skylight is a furniture object. Homent’s phones are the product; the tablet is optional.
Setup
- Create a family at homent.app.
- Invite phones with link or QR.
- On the tablet, install Display from Google Play, or open the browser board. Full steps: setup and tablet.
- You approve the tablet once, like any other device.
Browser board: Android 8+ Chrome. Keep the tablet on power in the kitchen or hallway if you want it always on. Colour, mount, and brightness depend on the tablet you already own. Homent is not a $300 piece of kitchen hardware.
What you will see
Not a month-grid appliance. A status board for today: which event, who is on pickup, where. That is useful in a Hong Kong household with a helper and school runs. A pretty US calendar frame will not add pickup status, helper roles, or a fridge PDF.
Honest limits
Old tablets throttle, dim, or drop Wi-Fi. If the panel is unreadable across the room, print instead. Homent Display does not watch anyone. Care sensors are a separate, optional kit with no camera.

Do I have to buy a tablet from Homent?
No. Use an Android tablet you already have, or an iPad.
What Android version?
The browser board works on Android 8+ Chrome. Use current Play Store versions for the native Display app.
Is this the same as pinning Google Calendar on the tablet?
No. Calendar on the wall is still Calendar. Homent is pickup status, helper tasks, and the same board as the phones.
