Homent

Guide

Import Google Calendar without showing work events to the helper

Homent imports selected Google Calendar days read-only. Then you set attendees and pickup so work and private events stay in Google, off the family board.

Import Google Calendar without showing work to the helper

You can keep Google Calendar as the system of record for work. Homent does not need the whole calendar. You import selected days, read-only, then set attendees and pickup or drop-off so work events stay in Google, off the family board.

That is the privacy model. The helper is a caregiver on the household board. She sees her pickups and to-dos. She does not get a dump of your work calendar, your spouse’s, or anything you did not put on the board.

The wrong way

Connecting “the whole Google Calendar” to a shared family app, then hoping the helper will not open month view. Shared Cozi / TimeTree / Google family calendars fail here in the same way: if it is on the calendar, it is on the calendar.

WhatsApp fails differently: you forward a screenshot, which is too little, or you add the helper to a group, which is too much. See helper pickup without WhatsApp.

The Homent way

  1. Work stays in Google. Meetings, focus blocks, the dentist you will take as leave. Leave them there.
  2. Import only the days you choose, read-only. Homent does not become the editor of your Google Calendar.
  3. Set attendees and pickup. A school run gets the helper (or dad) as the person on pickup. A work event never gets that, because it never landed on the board.
  4. Review before the helper sees it. Same as the AI wizard: paste a school chat, review, then create. Do not skip review on a week that includes a private appointment.

FAQ wording we will not outrun: “You can import selected Google Calendar days (read-only), then set attendees and pickup or drop-off so work events stay off the family board.” Source: FAQ.

Use both. Monday’s school circular goes through the wizard. Recurring clinic visits that already live in Google get imported for those days.

What the helper, spouse, and elder each see

Roles are caregiver, parent, or family admin. Approve each new phone or tablet once.

What we do not claim

Start: homent.app → create family → invite the helper as caregiver → import one school day from Google, not a work day → set pickup. If that day looks right on her phone, you have the model.

FAQ

Will the helper see my work calendar if I connect Google?

Not if you only import the days that belong on the family board, then set attendees. Do not import a work-only day.

Can I edit the event in Homent and have Google change?

No. Import is read-only.

What about a mixed day (work + school run)?

Put the school run on the board. Leave the work block in Google. The helper should see the run, not the block.
