Print a family calendar for the fridge when elders will not open an app
Export an A4 PDF from Homent — a few days, a week, or a month, table or calendar — so grandparents can see pickups without installing anything.
Print a month for the fridge
Elders often will not open the app. That is normal. A wall tablet in *your* kitchen does not help a grandparent in another flat.
Homent exports an A4 PDF of the schedule: a few days, a week, a month, or a custom range. Table or calendar. Filter to one person, or to caregiver tasks, including the trips an elder is tagged on. Hand them the paper. Fridge-friendly. No new app to learn.
The phones stay live. The paper is a snapshot. When the week changes, you print again. That is the whole trick. Do not try to talk someone in their seventies into a login.
Why a handwritten monthly calendar fails
You can fill a page until it is unreadable. It can say what to do that day. It usually cannot say who is on pickup, and where, without becoming a second document. Today’s Homent board names the event, who is on pickup, and where. The PDF is that board, on A4.
Cozi households in Hong Kong already print or screenshot. That works until pickup people change at lunchtime. Homent’s print is for people who will *only* read paper. The helper and the parents still use the app for the live status.
How to export
- Put the week on the board (type, AI wizard, or Google Calendar days you choose).
- Tag who is going. Include the elder on the trips that involve them.
- Export A4. Pick range. Pick table or calendar. Pick one person or caregiver tasks.
- Print. Put it on their fridge, not yours, if they live elsewhere.
- Reprint when the week actually changes. Do not promise the paper is live. It is not.
Setup is the same family as the phones: homent.app. FAQ: Can I print a schedule?.
What to put on the page (and what to leave off)
On: school runs, class, clinic, who is taking whom, dinner if they eat with you, medicine reminders that are already on the board.
Off: your work calendar, the helper’s private time, anything the elder does not need to see. Same rule as the family board. Import Google days, then set attendees, so work never reaches the PDF. See Google Calendar helper privacy.
Optional: paper plus a tablet, plus a sensor
These are three different rooms:
- Their fridge: A4.
- Your kitchen: idle iPad with Display, if you want a wall board. See tablet.
- Their living room: optional no-camera presence sensor if they live alone and the job is “was anyone in the room,” not rescue. Read no-camera sensor vs 平安鐘 before you mix those up.
Printing is part of Homent Family, which is free forever. You already own the printer. We do not sell fridge magnets.
FAQ
Is the PDF live?
No. It is a printout. Change the board, print again.
Can I print only the elder’s trips?
Yes. Filter to one person, or to the trips they are tagged on.
Does the helper see the same paper?
You can print her to-dos and pickups separately. She can also just use the Family App.
