School pickup status for Hong Kong families — who is on the run
Homent treats who is on pickup or drop-off as a first-class status, not a WhatsApp question and not a calendar comment. Helper, parent, and fridge print stay in sync.
Who is picking up — without asking in the chat
Hong Kong school runs fail in the same place: the event exists (“swimming 4pm”) but *who is on it right now* lives in a voice note, a comment, or “你到未?”.
Homent puts pickup and drop-off on the event as status. Today’s board names the event, who is on pickup or drop-off, and where. The helper sees *her* runs in the Family App. You update once. Phones stay in sync. An optional kitchen tablet shows the same board. Elders who will not open the app get an A4 on the fridge.
This is not a shared Google Calendar with a note in the description. It is not TimeTree comments. It is not another WhatsApp group. See helper pickup without WhatsApp for the chat problem; this page is the status model.
What “live pickup” means here
- Each event can name who drops off and who picks up.
- The helper’s view is her assignments, not the whole household dump.
- If the person changes at lunch, you change it once. The wall board and the phones follow. The paper does not — print again when the week changes.
Cozi can hold the event. TimeTree can hold a comment thread. Helpy is built for meals and salary slips. None of those is “who is on the run right now” as a first-class field. Comparison: Homent vs Cozi vs TimeTree vs Helpy.
Typical week (school, class, clinic)
School drop-off in the morning, school pickup in the afternoon, a class with a different adult, a clinic visit for a child or an elder. The same board. Filter print to one child if grandpa only needs that page.
Work stays in Google if you want it to. Import only the school-run days, then set attendees and pickup so the office block never hits the helper. Google Calendar helper privacy.
What this does not do
Homent does not GPS-track the helper. It does not replace the school’s official pickup card or the guard at the gate. It does not send the child a live map. It is a household board so adults stop asking the same question.
Create a family at homent.app. Invite the helper with a link or QR. Optional wall tablet: tablet display.
FAQ
Is this GPS tracking for the helper?
No. It is a named pickup/drop-off on the household board, not a live map of anyone’s phone.
Can the helper see every family event?
She sees her pickups and to-dos. Do not import work-only Google days onto the board.
Does the paper print include pickup?
Yes. Table and calendar layouts can show who drops off and who picks up. The paper is a snapshot; reprint when the week changes.
